Northern Penobscot Republicans rally in Lincoln

- Lee Rand Photo

June 9 - About a dozen Republican candidates or their representatives gathered on West Broadway here in Lincoln today for a rally of sign-waving, "voter meet and greet" and free hot dogs. It was a perfect day for it, as area voters stopped by to discuss issues on their minds with area representatives or hopefuls. Temperatures were in the low 70's and there was no rain in sight! Every so often a car or truck would toot their horns in passing to show their approval or support. Primary election day is Tuesday and the polls in Lincoln are open from 8am to 8pm at Mattanawcook Academy, the local high school. For a slide show of photos taken from today's event CLICK HERE.

Lee & Connie celebrate the release of the Lincoln Maine iPad app on the iTunes App Store

June 7 - In February 2005, we looked at our list of possible future projects and decided it was time that the Lincoln, Maine, area had a professionally done, attractive and informative website to promote our area of the state. We spent the next five months designing and creating the Lincoln area website, now called "Welcome To Lincoln Maine". The site was launched on the World Wide Web on July 1st of that year. Since then over 6.5 million people have visited this website from all over the world - over 6,000 unique visitors every week! The site has evolved into a world class website that we only dreamed about seven years ago. We now have a Facebook companion page with over 3550 "fans". We still kept a list of possible future projects. Two years ago we added smartphone apps to that list.

Four months ago we started the process of developing apps for the Android, iPhone/iPod and iPad systems. These would be under the category of "travel apps", and would also be companions to our popular website and Facebook pages. Last night Apple notified us that the last of the apps was approved (this one for the iPad) and available for free as a download from the iTunes App Store. The other apps were available one by one over the past two weeks. Initial response has been very positive, and we appreciate that. We also appreciate the local businesses who share our vision for promoting this area through these projects, and do so by advertising with us. Rand Advertising has been in business for nearly 25 years now, and these projects are part of how we make our living. We appreciate those who help us do so.

We still have a list of possible future projects! Being creative and original is something we've always done and we're not stopping now. We probably should add useful to that, too! Please continue to utilize the Lincoln community website, follow us on Facebook or Twitter, and make use of and spread the word about the free Lincoln Maine apps. And please support the area businesses who share our vision for the future and the promotional value of these projects. Lincoln has something most communities do not have, and we feel honored to be one part of that.

Let's have a GREAT summer in Lincoln, Maine, USA!
