CHRISTMAS PARADE OF LIGHTS A RESOUNDING SUCCESS
The Annual Christmas Parade of Lights on December 4, sponsored by the Lincoln Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, was the biggest and best to date. More than 20 units filled the streets from West Broadway to Main Street, with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving on snowmobiles. Main Street resembled Homecoming, with its huge crowd of onlookers laughing and waving as the participants drove by.

We at www.thelincolnwebsite.com thought the Chamber did a fantastic job and the turnout to watch the parade was the most in its five-year history!

The Chamber would like to thank everyone for bringing out your community spirit and supporting this wonderful event. The Lincoln Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the following people and businesses who, contributed in making their 5th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights a huge success.

Santa visits McDonald's
December 15 - Santa's a busy man this time of year. One of his local appearances was at McDonald's in Lincoln, where he visited with kids and enjoyed making some Christmas crafts with his young fans. Kids from 11 weeks to 11 years old were there to see Santa. For some photos of today's visit, CLICK HERE.

FROM THE NORTH POLE
Lincoln Web Site One Of Santa's Favorites
BREAKING NEWS: Santa wants you to know that the Lincoln area web site is one of my favorite places to visit on the web! Ho Ho Ho!!!

- Kris

December 12 - Kids are pretty smart people. They've learned that Santa visits this web site regularly, so they've sent their Christmas letters to him here. Here are three we got today! Although we've just put the kids' initials here, Santa knows who they are and that they've all been very, very good this year. Merry Christmas!
Dear Santa

I would really like to have a make up kit. That is the thing that I want the most. I also want a vanity for me to sit at while I put my make up on. I would like a necklace and bracelet kit that I can make my own at home like Grammie Peggy's that she has at her house. I would like to have a Leapster like Jackson and a girl game to play on it.

Thank you,
I love you Santa and Mrs. Clause,
Ava. S., Lincoln

Dear Santa,

The thing that I want the most is a Nintendo DS. A lot of my friends have one and I would really like to have one. I would also like to have a game to play on my DS. I think I would like to have Bakugan the most. I would like to have a Bakugan game for the Wii too. I really like to play the Wii with my friends. Bakugan is my favorite and I have been wanting a Bakugan card holder that goes on your wrist and it's also a calculator to calculate your GPower. I also saw a commercial for Gormiti's and they look pretty cool.

Thank you Santa very much. I hope you have a great Christmas. I am going to give you cookies and coffee on Christmas Eve just to help you stay awake. What kind of creamer do you want in your coffee?
Jackson. S., Lincoln

Dear Santa,

I really want a Ben 10 Alien Gunship Video Game, a Ben 10 Alien Gunship toy, an XBOX, a DSI and a Bakugan video game for the Wii.

Merry Christmas. I am going to leave you cookies and milk on Christmas Eve.
Brody. S., Lincoln

Dear Santa,

I want a Liv doll and a Moxie girl and all the Lego video games for the Wii. I also want a DSI.
Merry Christmas,
Myka

UPDATE: Myka was so happy with her gifts that she wrote to thank Santa:

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I love what you got me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,

Myka

Dear Santa,
How are you?
I would like a dolly from you.
Laken

Dear Santa,

"I hope mrs. claus is happy with you. I really want a Wii with sports games like boxing. Thank you."

- Todd B.

Dear Santa,

"I hope you can make me an iPod so my father won't have to buy one. I'll even share it with my brother if you do."

- Selinka, Millinocket

LP & T Celebrates Christmas With Annual Party
December 6 - Every year, Lincoln Paper & Tissue throws a wonderful Christmas party for the children and grandchildren of their employees. Games, goodies and characters in costume are always a part of the celebration. The real story of Christmas is presented, and all the kids get to visit with Santa and Mrs. Santa. Each youngster receives a nice gift from Santa.

We'd like to thank the good folks at LP & T for inviting us to photograph the festivities for www.thelincolnwebsite.com again this year. We always enjoy the party!

NEARLY 300 ENJOY BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
December 5 - Santa's a busy guy this time of year, but he still took the opportunity to greet the young and young-at-heart for Lincoln's annual Breakfast With Santa. St. Nick was walking with a cane while recovering from a pre-Christmas sleigh accident, but didn't let that get in the way of visiting with area kids!

Pancakes, sausage and orange juice were enjoyed by all as singers and dancers entertained the crowd at the MA cafetorium. Balloon animal hats and crafts kept the kids busy. In the hallway, the naughty and nice could sign a large banner hung on the wall.

MORE THAN 1500 TURN OUT
FOR CHRISTMAS PARADE & TREE LIGHTING
December 4 - Downtown Lincoln was filled with hundreds of kids of all ages for the annual Chamber of Commerce "Festival of Lights" parade and the lighting of the town Christmas tree. This was considered by many to be the most successful parade in the eight-year history of the event. The temperature was around 30 degrees, with no wind.

Ms. Kinkade’s 4th grade class from the Ella P. Burr School added to the holiday atmosphere with some Christmas carols, and members of the Greater Lincoln Marine Corp League #976 also spoke collected toys for the Toys for Tots campaign.

Hot chocolate and cookies were provided by Health Access Network, while glo-necklaces and bracelets donated by FA Peabody Insurance Company gave the kids a festive look.

BOY SCOUTS DECORATE MAIN STREET WINDOW

Photos by Lee Rand

Cub Scout Pack 50 of Lincoln has a display of gingerbread scenes in Pat Locke's law office windows. Each of the 6 dens: 1st grade Tigers, 2nd grade Wolves, 3rd grade Bears, and 4th-5th grade Webelos, made one scene on a 2' x 3' board to display in the window for the holiday season. The only rule was everything had to be edible except the board and tinfoil to cover it.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY CELEBRATES FIRST CHRISTMAS AT NEW MUSEUM
December 1 - The Lincoln Historical Society held their first Christmas party at their new museum this evening. The Corro House was full of laughter and fun as the 16 members present enjoyed goodies and games.

The old house on West Broadway has seen many Christmases come and go, and thanks to the LHS it will help to keep the history of Lincoln alive for generations to come.

LINCOLN'S CHRISTMAS TREE
November 23 - Lincoln's 2009 Christmas Tree, donated by Jerry Davis, was delivered and erected this morning on Main Street! John McLeod and Mark Helsor have graciously donated their man lifts for the tree raising.

The gazebo tree will be delivered soon, too. "Everything" will be decorated starting Monday, November 30th. Even naked the tree looks pretty good to us! Santa arrives Friday December 4th!

THE MAN!!
Home Decorating Contest
The Chamber is also having a home decorating contest, so put your thinking caps on and dig out those decorations! Judging will take place on December 14 and 15. Homes will be judged on curbside appeal only. Judges will not enter the property. Each home will be judged in one of the following categories: religious (best display with a religious theme); nostalgic (most old-fashioned, best reminds-me-of-my-childhood display); Clark Griswold (excessive use of outdoor lighting or decorations); Anything goes (no specific theme, but WOW); Martha Stewart Would Be Proud (if she would, you win); Charlie Browniest (Snoopy won first prize - this category is for the best decorations on a doghouse, tool shed, barn, outhouse - anything but your home).

One home will be judged the best overall, regardless of category, for the Grand Prize.

We'll be bringing you Lincoln's Christmas events right here, so keep checking for the latest schedule and our event coverage!
